Saying Good-Bye to a friend!

Posted on May 16, 2012

Monday evening, we had a going-away party for Gicks - Bobby's friend from Botswana. Gicks has been studying at Khon Kaen University (KKU) for the last two years. About a year ago, Gicks met a member of our church, Bam, who invited him to our church where we met him for the first time. Since then, Bobby and Gicks have been meeting weekly to study the book of John and to grow and mature in his faith. Gicks re-dedicated his life to the Lord this past year! Here is Gicks and the guys at the going-away party:

Gicks and the guys at the going-away party at our house! Katie made pulled pork - a favorite of the guys, especially Gicks! They spent a lot of the evening playing FIFA soccer on the x-box. I know Bobby sure is thankful for last year's Christmas gift - the Thais are too!!

Happy Mother's Day!

It's that time of year, and though it's hard to be away for any holiday, I'm so thankful for technology that lets me see and talk with our moms in real time! The world is a much smaller place with internet and all the wonderful resources it brings =) We are blessed to have such wonderful moms that love and care about us - and "I give thanks to God every time I remember you" Philippians 1:3

Summer is here!

Summer is here!

April 13th through April 15th the whole country of Thailand celebrated the Thai new year with a giant 3-day water fight! This is an annual tradition in Thailand and with it usually comes the brutal summer heat! Katie and I spent time with family and friends throwing water at each other, random strangers, passing cars and motorcycles – whoever dared to cross our path! As the temperatures here have been upwards of 100 degrees Fahrenheit – it was a great way to cool off!

“Life takes Visa” (in Thailand)

Posted on March 19, 2012

From March 13th through 17th Katie and I, alongside a few of our CO teammates, ventured out to Malaysia in a quest to receive what we've long awaited for...an RA (Religious Affairs) Visa which will allow us to stay in Thailand for up to 5 years without having to leave the country! About 10 days ago, we were notified by OMF (Overseas Missionary Fellowship), the organization that handles our visa work of our approval for the RA Visa. We'd applied just over a year ago for this visa and from what we hear, this past year has been a relatively short wait time!

Katie's Update on Life :)

So, though the last few weeks have been a whirlwind! We've been back in Thailand a month, and it feels like yeras. I feel like every time I want to write a blog post, I'm so overwhelmed by all that is going on that I don't even want to start! SO! I'm going to just throw some stuff out and if I forget or don't expound on something you want to hear more about, just ask!!

It Happens! Update from Honey!

Posted on February 20, 2012

I recently helped Honey, one of our Thai staff women, with her most recent update. I thought I would post it since her ministry at Northeastern University here in Khon Kaen has been so fruitful this semester! It was so encouraging to read - I hope you enjoy it!

First, a little bit about Honey: Nampueng (Honey) gave her life to Jesus as a student at Khon Kaen University (KKU) through the Campus Outreach ministry. Following graduation, Honey continued to pour her life out and was a part of the graduate ministry. She came on staff with Campus Outreach in November 2007 in order to minister and reach women for Jesus at the NorthEastern University (NEU).

Thai Family Christmas!

Posted on December 19, 2011

Though Christmas is nearing, here in Thailand it is hardly noticed. The weather is in the 80's, there are no Christmas radio stations, and most of all, we're not constantly bombarded with Christmas commercials, products, advertisements... etc. Though a few store in town have lights and even trees up, most decorations aren't for Christmas, rather the New Year. It's a funny feeling knowing Christmas is less than a week away! I hate to say I miss seeing the Christmas decorations at stores starting after 4th of July... or that it's not the same without the repetitious radio songs, but it there is something that seems to lack.

Appreciation Dinner!

This past Wednesday, December 14, our Community Team hosted a thank-you dinner at a nice local restaurant to thank our church Admin team for all their hard work this year. Our Admin team consists of: Rung; she is in charge of the finances, the duo of Moe and Yute, who are responsible for stateside correspondence as well as anything and everything that has to do with the church facility, legal issues, and the church grounds. Lastly, Thoy and Noy who are super valuable women who keep our church looking spectacular both inside and out!
